Christine has lived in Cottenham for over 25 years with her husband Simon and together they run businesses related to agriculture, analysis and marketing. Their children, now grown up and living in Scotland, went to Cottenham’s primary and secondary schools. Christine was involved in running the Toy Library and Busy Bee Play group while they were young.
She thoroughly enjoyed her stint on the Parish Council in 2011-13 and is keen to offer her services once more now that there is an opportunity for Cottenham residents to select their councillors through a public ballot. In the interim she has continued to attend Parish Council meetings and is an active member of a number of Parish Council working parties: Sustainable Cottenham, Traffic and Emergency Plan.
She would like to improve the facilities available in Cottenham and has been asked to join the Cottenham Vision Plan group. Her parish councillor experience has taught her how important it is to balance rigorous financial and public interest obligations whilst taking opportunities to make improvements if they are shown to be needed by the community. Otherwise: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”.
In her spare time she enjoys walking, running, swimming, cinema and encouraging wildlife (particularly bees and other pollinators) on the field on Church Lane which she and Simon own.
