Police Warning - Door to door Salesman "There have been several reports recently of foreign males going door to door asking for money for a sons operation or selling pictures. To do this legally they must have a pedlars certificate, which will have their photograph, who they are , and the area issuing it, which will quite often be Nottingham, hence the name, Nottingham knockers. Two males have been arrested in the last few days and taken to Parkside police station, and dealt with as they haven't had a pedlars certificate and couldn't provide an address. If you see anyone going door to door and you don't believe they are genuine please ring it in and we will deal with it." PC 144 Shulver. - Please ring 0845 456 4564

Cottenham Village Design Statement SPD Adopted
On 14th November 2007, South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) decided to adopt the updated Cottenham Village Design Statement as a Supplementary Planning Document within the Local Development Framework (LDF). The Design Statement describes the unique historic architectural traditions of the village – for example outlining what materials are most appropriate locally – while encouraging high quality contemporary design. It also deals with planning issues that matter to local people such as traffic, transport, landscape, open space, community facilities and sustainability.
Cottenham was one of the first villages in the country to produce a Village Design Statement, with the original version adopted by South Cambridgeshire District Council as Supplementary Planning Guidance in 1994. The new version has been produced in response to changes in the planning system and in the village itself. It was prepared by the Cottenham Village Design Group (CVDG), with input incorporated from a wide range of other local organisations and individuals. Funding was provided by Cottenham Parish Council and Awards for All.
A copy of the adopted Design Statement should be delivered to all households in the parish during December. It can also be downloaded (together with supporting documents) from the CVDG or SCDC websites.
