Summary news update

There’s been a lot going on over the past week so here’s a quick summary:

  • The Parish Council has voted not to increase the precept (our portion of Council Tax) for 2018/19. This means the precept stays at £140 for a Band D home. Draft minutes available here.
  • A scheme to improve pavements and crossings between Stevens Close and the High Street has been agreed. (specifically around Stevens Close, Franklin Gardens, Victory Way/Lambs Lane & Eastlands Close/Lyles Road). Timings to be advised.
  • Grants for Cottenham Junior Brass, Mobile Warden scheme, Fen Edge Twinning Association and CUFC have all been approved.
  • We will be purchasing a defibrillator and secure box for installation in the phone box at the top of Denmark Road.
  • The County Council is appealing against the rejection of their original planning application for 154 houses on land off Rampton Road. Currently no details re. dates for the hearing.
  • Neighbourhood Plan – further evidence papers, including an independent housing needs assessment have been published on the NP page of this site.
  • Village Hall – revised plans are available on our project page alongside a summary poster. Pre-application meetings are scheduled for later this month with SCDC.
  • Resurfacing of Coolidge Gardens has finally commenced and is scheduled to complete by 19th January.
  • We have voted to reject an application for 23 houses on land off Oakington Road for the following reasons: access, sustainability, drainage, outside village framework.
  • We have voted to approve an application by Amey for the construction of an ‘energy from waste facility’ BUT subject to the safety and integrity of the technology (we require evidence of the ‘proven technology’ and case history of any incidents due to the potential for toxic emissions in the event of plant failure).
