
A full line up of events in Cottenham across the Jubilee weekend.
Thursday 2nd June – Jubilee Beacon from 7pm
Cottenham Recreation Ground
- 9.40pm – Cornet Player (Cottenham Brass) will officially announce the lighting of the beacon with a specially written bugle call entitled Majesty
- 9.45 – Beacon lighting accompanied by TyrranoChorus singing Song for the Commonwealth, which has been specially written for the beacon events.
Friday 3rd June – Pop Quiz 7pm
Cottenham Community Centre
Community Centre Pop Quiz. Come and test your knowledge of multiple rounds of pop music questions from the 1960’s, through to 2012 – including a royal round of course!
- Teams of up to 6 people
- £5 per head
- Bar will be open selling soft and alcoholic drinks – bring your own nibbles and snacks.

Saturday 4th June – Family Disco 3-5pm
Cottenham Village Hall
Party the afternoon away with Disco Dave!
- £1 per child – payment on the door (adults free)
- Bar and kiosk will be open for drinks/snacks/ice cream

Sunday 5th June – Platinum Jubilee Service 10.30am
All Saints’ Church
Join the Churches of Cottenham to celebrate this special event at 10.30 in All Saints’ Church
Sunday 5th June – The Big Lunch, 12 Noon to 6pm
Cottenham Recreation Ground
Bring a picnic and join family and friends to celebrate with the Biggest Lunch ever held in Cottenham on the Recreation Ground. The Village Hall bar will be open selling drinks, snacks and ice creams.
- Exhibition of past Cottenham jubilees by The Village Society
- Entertainment will be provided on the Balcony by C5 and Daphne & Clarissa
- Ponies & horses from The Sandy Hill Community Project Centre
- Target Bowls at Cottenham Bowls Club – suitable for all ages to join in
Fancy dress competition
3 themes: Queen Elizabeth; Queen (the band); Queen’s Green Canopy
Age categories: 0-reception; KS1; KS2; Secondary

Tug of War competition
Teams of 8 + caller (primary mixed, secondary and adult male, female and mixed teams). Entry on the day. Prizes to be won. NB: Please ensure you’re reasonably physically fit before entering!

- WI – cakes, raffle and miniature garden competition
NB: please no glass on the Rec if possible – the bar will be selling beer in reusable plastic cups. Bins will be provided for rubbish. Our thanks to Cottenham Guides for doing a litter pick of the Rec.
