Ever wondered why there is such a complex set of information that needs to be provided with each application for permission to build a new house or extend an existing one, especially the palaver if the site is in the Conservation Area or the affected building – or one nearby – is listed?

A lot of it is to ensure development complies with National, District or Neighbourhood Plans; some of it is to drive policies for energy reduction or water consumption.

SCDC is currently consulting on its latest draft to ensure sustainability. Take a look:
